East Caln Adopts New Comprehensive Plan
Posted July 23, 2024
As it was presented in CCPC's July Board Meeting, we are excited to share that East Caln Township recently completed an update to their Comprehensive Plan!
The Township was awarded an in-kind grant of $37,000, or 60% of the project, through the county's Vision Partnership Program (VPP) to update their 2011 comprehensive plan, matched with $24,800, or 40%, from the Township. The plan was adopted this past March.
The process for the plan's update began in the summer of 2022 with an analysis of their existing conditions based on a public survey, followed by a kickoff meeting in the fall, public workshops and open houses, a draft plan, recommendations, and then the final adoption. Overall, the process took two years to complete.
CCPC helped drive the plan's update by providing guidance and feedback on materials, as well as a review on the draft plan. The lead planner for this project was CCPC's Senior Community Planner, Chris Patriarca.
The plan features six topic areas which were identified as issues or priorities for the township, including: community mobility connections; natural resources and environmental sustainability; parks and recreation; commercial and economic development; community services and facilities; and future land use. Each of the topic areas includes goals, recommendations, and implementation strategies for the Township to implement.
