2022 Landscapes3 Success Stories Released
CCPC shares a variety of initiatives that took place across the County in 2022
WEST CHESTER, PA — April 18, 2023 — The Chester County Planning Commission released the 2022 Landscapes3 Success Stories, highlighting just a snapshot of the many positive initiatives that took place across Chester County this past year!
The stories are broken into the six goals and vision of Landscapes3 — covering a range of topics led by the county, municipalities, and many partner organizations.
Under the Preserve goal, the stories dive into the celebration of the county's 30% protected open space milestone, followed by details on new farmland and parkland acquired, Big Elk Creek State Park's official state park designation, and CCPC's updated Conservation Subdivision Design Guide. In terms of Protect, the stories touch on two important initiatives led by the Chester County Water Resources Authority — the Stormwater Management Plan update and tours of Hibernia Dam in West Caln Township. CCPC's Inventory of Natural Resources, East Pikeland's riparian restoration efforts, progress on low impact designs, and the county's new Sustainability Division were also covered. Under the Appreciate goal the stories include new historic markers for Brandywine Battlefield, along with the restoration of Longwood Garden's Orchid House, West Chester's Gingko Arts space, the annual Town Tours & Village Walks program, and the county's efforts toward the nation's 250th anniversary through the America250PA Chester County Commission. The Live stories address some of the county's most relevant topics through guidance and other initiatives. CCPC's annual A+ Homes Forum, the Missing Middle Housing Guide, and a new webpage discussing social equity are included — along with the county's new Keep Chester County Beautiful affiliate group. When it comes to Prosper, 2022 was a productive year in terms of planning for the future of Chester County. Stories highlight the Ag Council's new Economic Development Strategic Plan and the annual Farm Guide, which has been serving residents and visitors for over 20 years. The Brandywine Battlefield National Historic Landmark Heritage Interpretive & Connectivity Plan was completed in 2022, and both East Brandywine Township and Modena Borough adopted new comprehensive plans as well. The Connect goal features an array of stories, from the formation of the Schuylkill River Passenger Rail Authority between Berks, Chester, and Montgomery counties to an online solar power guide with information on regulating solar power facilities. Other stories include the opening of the final phase of the Schuylkill River Trail, the county's Walk. Ride. Drive Safe campaign, and repairs made to the Route 162/Embreeville Road Bridge to fix damage from Hurricane Ida. See the 2022 Connect Success Stories
Lastly, the stories cover the Landscapes3 Vision which focuses on place, choice, and community. In 2022 the stories feature CCPC's Rural Center Design Guide, the recipients of the county's Vision Partnership Program, new institutional developments such as Avon Grove School District, and residential infill in the county's urban center landscapes.
